Frequently Asked Questions
-
Which types of brow shaping services are offered at Exclusive Look Esthetics? We specialize in enhancing your brows through two distinct methods: Brow waxing and Brow threading.
-
What is the difference between waxing and threading?Threading is a meticulous process that involves skillfully spinning a thread over the hair, causing the hair to coil around the thread, and subsequently, gently removing the hair from the root. Waxing on the other hand, employs a thin layer of wax to securely adhere to the hair. When the wax is swiftly pulled off the skin, it effectively extracts the hair along with it. Both methods, when performed with expertise, result in minimal disturbance to the skin. Engaging in a thorough discussion with your brow artist will enable you to make an informed decision about which technique suits you best.
-
How often should I make an appointment? We recommend scheduling eyebrow and facial threading sessions every 2-4 weeks, while body waxing sessions are typically best done every 4-6 weeks. Over time, you'll notice that the hair follicles have a weaker hold, making the process more comfortable, and you may also observe reduced hair growth.
-
How long should my hair be for waxing? For optimal results, your hair should ideally be between 1/4 to 1/2 inches in length. If your hair exceeds this length, we suggest shaving and then scheduling your appointment for approximately 2-3 weeks later to ensure the best outcome. Keep in mind that hair grows in different stages, so it may take up to three waxing sessions to achieve a completely smooth appearance. To facilitate this process, please avoid shaving in between your appointments as it can disrupt the overall effectiveness of the treatment.
-
What is lamination?Eyebrow lamination represents the latest beauty trend for enhancing and adding volume to your natural brows. Much like the concept of a lash lift, this procedure entails the application of a setting lotion, which imparts a semi-permanent "brushed up" and elevated appearance to your brow hairs. Regardless of whether you have thin, thick, or previously over-plucked eyebrows, brow lamination offers an effortless solution to achieve the everyday look you desire. Brow Lamination is a specialized technique aimed at straightening the brow hairs, yielding full, lifted, and luxuriously fluffy brows. Achieving this effect involves a straightforward 3-step process that ensures all your brow hairs align in your chosen direction. For even bolder and more enhanced results, we highly recommend combining lamination with tinting.
-
How long does lamination last?By adhering to proper aftercare, you can expect the results to endure for a duration of 6 to 8 weeks. To maintain the desired look, we suggest incorporating daily applications of Brow Gold Oil to replenish moisture in your brows. Additionally, for ongoing upkeep, it's essential to style your laminated brows each morning by gently brushing and setting the hairs in their desired position.
-
What is the aftercare for lamination?By following the correct aftercare, you can achieve longer-lasting results. We’ve compiled a list of our go-to aftercare tips, which should be followed for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment: Keep brows completely dry. Use Brow Gold Nourishing Growth Oil daily to keep the brows nourished and hydrated. Do not apply make-up or undertake further eye treatments. Avoid swimming, saunas, and working out. Any excess moisture can cause a slight curl or frizz to the brow hair. Do not allow prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or heat. Do not apply Retin-A, AHA, or exfoliate around the brow area for 72 hours on either side of the treatment. No self-tanning products should be used on the face for one week prior and 48 hours after treatment
-
Can I do lamination and tint in the same service?Certainly, it's possible to combine lamination and tinting in a single service. Our recommendation is to apply the tint between steps 2 and 3 of the lamination process for a seamless result. Alternatively, you can opt to tint your brows either 24 hours before or after completing the lamination treatment, depending on your preference and schedule.
-
What is a lash lift?A lash lift operates in harmony with your natural lashes, crafting a captivating semi-permanent curl that remains stunning for an impressive span of 6 to 8 weeks. This method employs a skillful fusion of lifting lotion and silicone rods to elevate your natural lashes, bestowing upon them an appearance of increased length and fullness. For those seeking an excellent alternative to eyelash extensions, we wholeheartedly endorse lash lifts.
-
What are classic, hybrid & volume eyelash extensions? We adhere to a precise 1:1 ratio when applying eyelash extensions, which means one extension is affixed to each natural lash. Consequently, the number of extensions we can apply is limited by the quantity of your natural lashes. It's important to note that extensions cannot be placed where there are no natural lashes. If you have sparse lashes and aim to achieve a fuller lash line, Classic Eyelash Extensions may not be the most suitable option for you. Instead, you may want to explore Hybrid and Volume extensions. Hybrid Eyelash Extensions offer a solution if you desire more coverage without committing to full Volume lashes. This technique combines elements of both Classic and Volume eyelash extensions, seamlessly blending Volume fans with Classic extensions to create a lusciously full lash line. In the case of Volume Eyelash Extensions, we employ a more intricate approach. We craft fans consisting of 2-10 ultra-thin eyelash extensions and arrange them into a fan shape before attaching them to your natural lashes. When these fans are meticulously placed side by side, the result is a lush, voluminous set of lashes with a strikingly dark lash line.
-
How long will my lashes last?Similar to your natural lashes, eyelash extensions naturally shed over time. Because the extensions are attached to lashes in the midst of their lifecycle, they typically begin to naturally fall out after 3-4 weeks of wear. To ensure your lashes maintain a consistently full and lush appearance, we recommend scheduling refills every 2-3 weeks. If you go beyond this timeframe, it is advisable to book a full set appointment, where any browned-out lashes can be removed and replaced for a fresh, vibrant look.
-
What is the aftercare for eyelash extensions ?Please keep in mind that it's crucial to steer clear of using mascara, eyeliner, and eyelash curlers on your extensions. Most mascaras and eyeliners contain ingredients that can harm and weaken the bonding agent of the extensions. You can safely use products that are not petroleum-based, such as powder eyeliners. When removing makeup, remember to use an oil-free makeup remover, gently swiping sideways across the eyelid and never downward on the lashes to prevent any accidental lash pulling. For proper maintenance, utilize the YONKA Eau Miscellair Cleanser along with a lash cleansing brush to clean both your lash extensions and natural lashes. This practice helps prevent the buildup of bacteria, which can potentially lead to eye infections. It's essential for clients to take responsibility for keeping their eyelash extensions clean and arriving makeup-free for their lash appointments. You can conveniently purchase the cleanser at Exclusive Look Esthetics; feel free to inquire with your aesthetician for more details!

What is henna?Henna offers a more natural alternative to brow tinting. Derived from the hina plant, also known as the henna tree, henna is a natural dye used to create the effect of casting a shadow and generating an illusion of depth and fullness in the brow area.
-
What is the correct aftercare for henna? To maximize the longevity of your henna results, it's essential to follow the correct aftercare regimen. Here's a list of our recommended aftercare guidelines to be observed for the first 24 to 48 hours after your treatment: Refrain from rubbing the treated area. Avoid any heat treatments. Do not apply brow makeup. Steer clear of sunbathing and prolonged sun exposure. Avoid activities like swimming, saunas, and intense sweating. Do not exfoliate the brow area, as this may cause the Henna to fade more quickly. Prolonged exposure to the sun and UV lights can expedite the fading of the henna. Incorporate the daily use of Brow Code Brow Growth Oil to nourish and maintain the health of your brows. Avoid the application of Retin-A, AHA, or any exfoliation around the brow area for 72 hours before and after the treatment.
-
What is tint?Eyebrow Tinting involves the application of semi-permanent dye to enhance, sculpt, and delineate your brows. Our collection of deeply pigmented tints not only colors the brow hairs but also leaves a lasting stain on the skin for a well-defined look.
-
How long does tint last?Brow Code Tint offers skin retention lasting up to 7 days and stays on the brow hairs for approximately 3 to 4 weeks. To enjoy this extended durability, it's essential to adhere to all instructions and follow the prescribed aftercare measures.
-

-
How long does PMU take? The initial session typically spans approximately 1.5 to 3 hours. During this time, the technician works closely with the client to shape and style their brows, lips, or eyeliner, seeking the client's approval at each step. Pigment color selection follows, and once the client is content with the choices, the procedure commences., A subsequent follow-up session is scheduled, recommended to take place within 4 to 10 weeks following the initial session. This second session typically lasts around 60 minutes to 1.5 hours and is primarily for minor touch-ups as needed.
-
How long does it take to heal?Following the procedure, it's normal for the eyebrow area to exhibit slight redness, and the pigment may initially appear darker than the eventual healed result. This is a regular part of the healing process, and you can anticipate the color fading by approximately 40% to 60% as it heals. In the days that follow, your eyebrows may remain dark, and you might notice minor flaking. It's crucial not to pick at the flaking, as doing so can potentially harm the skin and affect the outcome of the permanent makeup. Over time, the eyebrows will gradually lighten in color as they continue to heal. There is no downtime required after permanent makeup procedures. It typically takes about 7-14 days for the brows to fully heal, and approximately 3-4 weeks for the color to settle completely. Around two weeks post-appointment, you may observe the color appearing quite light, and the skin may have a slightly milky appearance. This is referred to as "milk skin" and is a common occurrence in tattooing. It happens because the tissue is still healing from the inside out, even though the surface of the skin has already healed. The true color will reveal itself once the healing process is complete.
-
Does PMU hurt? The pain experienced during the procedure is generally rated as mild to negligible. After the initial pass, which typically lasts less than 10 minutes, your artist will apply a topical anesthetic to the treatment area and continue to reapply it throughout the procedure. The sensation during the procedure can vary from feeling like light cat scratches to hardly any sensation at all, depending on the individual's response to the topical anesthetics used. These anesthetics may contain ingredients such as lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine, and epinephrine., For lip and eyeliner services, you will be pre-numbed to ensure your comfort., Following the procedure, it's normal to experience some redness and minor swelling in the treated area. Clients often liken this sensation to that of a mild sunburn. If desired, clients may take Tylenol prior to the procedure for added comfort, but it's essential to avoid aspirin or ibuprofen.
-
How long does it last?As PMU pigments are not implanted as deeply into the skin as traditional tattoos, natural fading occurs over time. Typically, PMU lasts between 1 to 3 years, with its longevity influenced by factors like skin type (normal, oily, dry), age (youthful/mature), and skincare routines. Factors like tanning and the use of products containing AHA or Glycolic Acid can accelerate fading as they promote faster skin resurfacing. Color retention within the skin varies from person to person. To keep your PMU looking fresh, we recommend scheduling a touch-up every 12-24 months. Clients may choose to let the PMU area naturally fade, but it's important to note that a faint shadow may persist. The duration of your permanent makeup's vibrancy can be influenced by various factors, including your skin's natural cell turnover rate (which varies among individuals), adherence to aftercare, sun exposure, skincare products, and lifestyle choices. Consequently, we cannot guarantee the precise duration of your permanent makeup's vibrancy or predict when a touch-up might be needed.
-
What is the difference between microblading, nano brows and powder brows?Microblading involves creating individual hair strokes by manually etching the skin using a hand tool and blade. Nano brows, on the other hand, utilize a machine and an ultra-fine needle to meticulously etch individual hair strokes into the skin. This technique yields an incredibly lifelike and hyper-realistic brow appearance. Powder brows, also known as shading, employ a machine to deposit pigment into the skin. This method enhances the brows, making them appear fuller and can be tailored to achieve a slightly powdered or filled-in look. It's particularly effective for blending areas with sparse hair into denser regions. Powder brows are well-suited for those seeking to restore the '90s over-tweezed brow style, and they offer a versatile range, from a subtle "barely there" appearance to a more pronounced but natural look, distinct from traditional makeup.
-
How do I know what brow technique is right for me?Given that not all skin types are compatible with every brow permanent makeup technique, our artists will provide a personalized recommendation for the most suitable technique during your appointment., If you have a specific technique in mind and prefer not to be flexible, we kindly request that you contact us before making a booking to ensure we can accommodate your preference.

What are the aftercare instructions for my brows? Here's a comprehensive guide on how to care for your newly treated brows: Day 1: Gently wipe the brows. Day 2: Wipe the brows three times: morning, midday, and evening. Days 3-5: Allow the brows to dry naturally without any interference; avoid makeup, creams, or water in the brow area. Day 6: Begin applying balm once a day. Apply a thin layer in the morning until all scabs have completely healed. Care Instructions: First 5 Days: Keep the brows dry; avoid water contact. Day 6: You can wash your face and hair as usual. First 7 Days: Refrain from strenuous activities, such as sweating or going to the gym. First 14 Days: Avoid facials and massages. First 3 Weeks: Protect your brows from direct sunlight; use SPF 40+ after the scabs have fallen off. What to Expect / Normal Healing Process: Days 1-5: Your brows may appear darker and thicker, and scabbing may form to protect the healing area. Days 5-9: As scabs begin to shed, the brows may appear patchy. Don't worry; this phase is temporary, and the balm can help with flaking and itching. Days 9-12: The pigment may appear light or milky due to a thin layer of scar tissue forming. This is entirely normal. Days 12-21: Once the thin layer of scar tissue fully heals, the pigment will regain its vibrancy, and your brows will appear darker again. This is part of the natural healing process. Absolutely NO PICKING your scabs!

What is a Russian manicure/pedicure?The Russian nail method is an advanced nail care technique dedicated to achieving impeccably clean and well-maintained nails. Distinguished from conventional manicures, the Russian manicure, suitable for both hands and feet, is a dry procedure, eliminating the need for nail soaking. This meticulous approach employs a specialized nail drill to delicately eliminate surplus cuticle skin surrounding the nail bed, accompanied by gentle filing and the removal of dead skin cells, revealing healthier and smoother nails. The Russian nail method not only guarantees a more enduring manicure but also fosters the development of robust and healthier nails.
-
How often should I come for a nail refill? The recommended wait time between refills is no more than 3 weeks.
-
When should I book a new set?Typically, we suggest scheduling 3-4 refills before considering a new set appointment. However, individual needs may vary based on the rate and pattern of nail growth. It's essential to keep in mind that nails can grow in various directions, potentially altering the original nail shape and appearance. Opting for a new set can help reset this growth pattern and restore the desired look.
-
What causes lifting or breakage?Lifting and breakage can be influenced by several factors. These include extended intervals between refills, rough treatment, frequent tapping, and using the nails for pushing. To minimize these risks, it's advisable to use your knuckles when pressing buttons, avoid exposure to harsh irritants and strong cleaning agents, and limit prolonged soaking in water. Some clients naturally have more lifting due to thin or oily nail beds. Your nail technician will inform you if they think you should book more frequently to avoid this.
-
How do I take care of my nails ?To maintain the health and appearance of your nails, it's essential to avoid continuous water exposure (consider wearing gloves when necessary) and refrain from behaviors such as banging, picking beneath the nails, placing them in your mouth, or using them as tools (e.g., opening boxes or peeling labels). Remember, your nails shouldn't double as tools! Instead, handle them with care, apply cuticle oil daily, and schedule regular refills to keep them looking their best.
-
How frequently should I do a pedicure? For most individuals, it is advisable to schedule a complete pedicure every 4 to 6 weeks. A full pedicure typically encompasses a foot soak, exfoliation, nail shaping, cuticle maintenance, a relaxing foot massage, and the finishing touch of nail polish application.
-
What kind of pedicure last longer? If you're aiming for a flawless and long-lasting pedicure that can withstand a special occasion or a holiday for at least two weeks, a gel or shellac pedicure is the ideal choice for achieving this goal.
-
How do you upkeep your pedicure at home?Schedule regular pedicure appointments, aiming for intervals of no longer than 4-8 weeks. Incorporate foot care into your shower routine by exfoliating your feet and toes with a foot file and/or pumice stone. Follow this with a foot or body scrub. Daily foot massages with Emulsion, followed by the application of Phyto 152 Cream, can help maintain soft heels and toes. For more information about home care products for your manicure, pedicure, and overall esthetics regimen, feel free to consult with your aesthetician.

How long does the hair need to be in order to wax?In the specific region where you plan to undergo waxing, your hair should have a minimum length of at least ¼ inch, roughly equivalent to the size of a grain of rice. Typically, it takes about 2 weeks without shaving (for the bikini area) to achieve this length. Hair that is shorter may not have sufficient length to effectively adhere to the wax and be removed. If there's any uncertainty, we can perform a test strip, as some individuals may be suitable for waxing with hair shorter than ¼ inch.
-
How long does waxing last? This question doesn't have a one-size-fits-all answer because individual experiences can vary. Initially, you may notice more hair growth and sporadic new hairs emerging in the 1-2 weeks following your appointment compared to someone who has been waxing for several months. After 3-6 months of consistent waxing, you can typically enjoy approximately 2 weeks of hair-free skin, followed by 1-2 weeks during which some random hairs may start to reappear and eventually reach the ¼ inch length needed for waxing in the bikini area. As a general guideline, most individuals find that they are ready for their next waxing session at around: 4 weeks for the bikini area 5 weeks for the back 3 weeks for lower legs and underarms 2-5 weeks for facial hair 4-6 weeks for upper legs These timeframes are estimations and can vary depending on factors such as how long you've been waxing, the number of active hair follicles you have, your aftercare routine, whether or not you've been shaving in between waxing sessions, the texture of your hair, and its growth rate.
-
What else can I do to prepare? In addition to ensuring your hair is at least ¼ inch long, here are some important tips: Wear loose-fitting clothing on the day of your appointment. Avoid tight or synthetic fabrics, especially for Brazilian clients. If you have sensitivity concerns, consider bringing a clean pair of cotton underwear to wear after your waxing session. Begin exfoliating and moisturizing the intended waxing area as soon as you decide to schedule the service. Exfoliation should be done 2-3 times a week, while moisturizing should occur at least once every day or two. This regimen helps prevent hairs from being trapped just beneath the skin, which is common when using razors. Refrain from using numbing creams, as they can make waxing difficult and are generally ineffective. Please review the provided aftercare instructions and ensure you don't have any activities scheduled for the next 24-48 hours that may be inappropriate after waxing, such as intense physical exercise, tanning, or sauna use.
-
Why choose waxing, what are the benefits & what's the Difference between waxing and shaving?Waxing and shaving are worlds apart in terms of hair removal techniques. Shaving is essentially the act of trimming hair at skin level using razors, which often leads to a range of issues including ingrown hairs, razor burn, skin discoloration, and uncomfortable regrowth. The contrast with waxing is striking: Longer-Lasting Smoothness: Waxing provides an extended period of clean, hair-free skin, typically around 2 weeks for a Brazilian wax. In comparison, shaving leaves you with stubble that reappears within days. No Stubble Trouble: With waxing, there's no stubble, even as hair regrows. The new growth is finer and softer, making it less itchy and uncomfortable compared to the prickly stubble left by shaving. Reduced Hair Regrowth: Waxing can actually diminish hair regrowth over time, as it can damage or even destroy hair follicles' ability to produce hair. Shaving, on the other hand, won't yield this long-term reduction. Time Efficiency: Consider the time you spend shaving daily or every few days versus the mere 15 minutes you'll invest every few weeks with waxing. The efficiency of waxing is hard to match.
-
What causes Ingrown Hairs ?There are several factors that can contribute to the development of ingrown hairs. These culprits include: Improper Technique: Using incorrect hair removal methods or not following proper technique can increase the likelihood of ingrown hairs. Tight Clothing: Wearing tight-fitting clothing can cause friction and increase the chances of hair getting trapped under the skin. Sweat/Oils/Bacteria: Sweat, oils, and bacteria entering the hair follicles can lead to inflammation and ingrown hairs. Synthetic Materials: Fabrics like lace, spandex, and nylon can irritate the skin and exacerbate ingrown hairs. Friction: Friction from various sources, such as clothing or constant rubbing, can contribute to ingrown hairs. Dead Skin: Accumulated dead skin cells can block hair follicles, leading to ingrown hairs. Dry Skin: Insufficient moisture in the skin can make it more prone to ingrown hairs. Not Following Proper Aftercare: Neglecting post-hair removal care can increase the risk of ingrown hairs. Individual Susceptibility: Some individuals may be naturally predisposed to developing ingrown hairs more frequently.

What makes the Inverness System “safe”?The Inverness System has two unique features designed to ensure the safest ear piercing experience possible. 1. Inverness is the only ear piercing system with fully-enclosed earring capsules that prevent our piercing earrings and exclusive Safety Back™ from being exposed to potential contaminants prior to piercing. Our earring capsules are sealed in sterilized cartridges that are not opened until selected for piercing. Unlike other systems on the market, our earrings are not exposed until they are safely inserted in the ear. 2. Our exclusive Safety Back™ allows for the safest healing possible by shielding the piercing tip and preventing the earring back from being squeezed too tight. This allows for proper airflow and prevents the earring back from becoming embedded during the healing process.
-
Why do you say “gentle”?Most people report they feel no discomfort at all when pierced with the Inverness System. Here’s why: 1. Unlike loud piercing guns that shoot a spring-loaded piercing earring through the tissue, our hand-pressured instrument is smooth and quiet. 2. Our system will pierce your ears and attach our exclusive Safety Back™ in one quick, smooth motion. 3. Our piercing earrings are specially-designed with ultra-thin piercing posts & a finely honed piercing tip to help the earrings glide through the lobe as easily as possible
-
Is there a risk associated with the sharp tip of the piercing earring? To provide you with as comfortable an ear piercing experience as possible, all Inverness piercing earrings are carefully crafted with a sharp tip. For your protection, each earring comes with our exclusive Safety Back™, designed to cover the sharp piercing tip. We recommend checking that your Safety Back is securely in place daily, ideally after cleaning your piercing and before bed.
-
Why do you use the word “instrument”? Isn’t it a piercing “gun”?No. In fact, we cringe when people call our piercing instrument a gun. Unlike our specially-engineered, hand-pressured instrument, piercing guns are spring-loaded and LOUD. Piercing guns “shoot” the piercing earring through the lobe. Our human-powered instrument is designed to pierce the ear quickly and accurately in one smooth, quiet, hand-pressured motion
-
Is it safe to pierce my baby’s ears?Yes. Babies are pierced at a very young age worldwide. Inverness recommends that parents wait until after the first DPT vaccination which is usually administered at 8 weeks. However, this is a personal decision, and we recommend that you discuss your plans with your baby’s pediatrician before piercing
-
Do you have any ear piercing tips for babies & small children?1. Do your homework. Make sure to choose a location that carries the Inverness System. Only Inverness piercing earrings have our exclusive Safety Back™ to shield your little one from the earring’s sharp piercing tip. 2. Consider selecting a location that is able to provide two associates to pierce your child’s ears simultaneously. The Inverness System is ideal for babies because it is extremely fast and quiet. Simultaneous piercings make the process even easier for children and their parents. 3. Celebrate and record this happy milestone, and be sure to share your piercing story with us, and be sure to tag us on social media !
-
How long does it take for an ear/ nose & body piercing to heal? The average healing time is 6 weeks for an earlobe piercing and 12 weeks for a cartilage piercing. We recommend leaving your piercing earrings in and following your aftercare instructions for the entire healing period. For tips & more information about what to expect after you have your ears pierced, visit our After Care Tips & Timeline
-
Is it OK to change my earrings or take them out during the healing period? You should only switch into new earrings after the healing period: 6 weeks for an earlobe piercing and 12 weeks for a cartilage piercing. Newly-pierced ears are very sensitive and require special care and attention. If you take your earrings out for any length of time during the healing period, the holes may close or you may find it to be very difficult to re-insert earrings into a piercing hole that has not fully healed.
